Dacryphilia article (in which I got quoted)

Lucky me! But seriously, it's good to know researchers on dacryphilia have available resources on the net (ie US). See if you can figure out which quote is mine (you get a genius award if you get it right): http://drmarkgriffiths.wordpress.com/2012/07/27/a-crying-shame-a-brief-overview-of-dacryphilia/

You exhibit a "powerful classically conditioned response"? Woohoo, fancy!

Lol, congratulations on your newfound fame.

I know right? And I don't even have to know what that means.

That was a neat article.  I like that it spreads awareness that not all crying fetishists are sadists.

Re: Dacryphilia article (in which I got quoted)

Agreed. I had never thought of myself as a "voyeuristic fetishist," because it's important that i'm THERE, but there's definitely truth in that label. Also, we don't want to be too down on the sadists. There's a big difference between a monster who goes out and hurts people's feelings to see them cry, and a play-sadist who engages with other consenting adults to elicit tears for the pleasure of both parties. Just sayin'

Re: Dacryphilia article (in which I got quoted)

Oh yeah, I'm not criticizing the BDSMers-- it's just what most people would naturally assume unless you explained it to them and it *so* doesn't describe my kink.  And yeah, I know what you mean about "voyeuristic fetishist" -- I don't really want to be a third party, I want to be part of the comforting action, LOL!  But I suppose I'd rather be a voyeuristic third party than not there at all (even if I'm insanely jealous of the person who's part of the action).

Re: Dacryphilia article (in which I got quoted)

Oh, I know you weren't criticizing them. I just thought it was worth mentioning.

And it's funny, because I do have a slightly voyeuristic streak, but not in a sexual way. I just find it relaxing to listen to two other people talk, or watch people play frisbee outside my window. I'm pretty introverted and social interactions can be tiring, but I like this sort of vicarious social experience without the pressure of participating. I wouldn't have thought to connect this to my fetish, though.

Re: Dacryphilia article (in which I got quoted)

I agree an excellent article - highlighting the lack of academic research which is not just limited to dacryphilia but crying in general.

Pity the article did not link to this forum - might have picked up a bit of extra traffic to the site ourselves.

I left the link in a comment (under my psuedonym).
