Happy holidays everyone! I've just uploaded my second Bruna Marquezine supercut, featuring two shows (well, the second one doesn't have many, so that's more of a bonus) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LA7rJhpCW3M

My first Bruna video is my most viewed currently so I thought it would be worth making more with her (though Liza is quickly catching up)

To be honest I was always planning on doing more Bruna videos and I've had this video basically complete for a while. I still have a huge collection of her crying scenes from her other shows, probably enough for another 3 videos haha. The plan next year is to keep working on those in between supercuts of other girls, and follow up videos for others like Liza too. So don't worry there will always be a variety. That's the plan anyway.

I'm still not sure what my rate of posting will be in 2021. I can foresee some of the best future videos will take a really long time to do properly. It's really only thanks to all the covid lockdowns that I've been able to do so much so fast. I'm also not sure if I'll keep posting on here every time there's a new video. So, here's another call to subscribe if you haven't already ;)

Hope everyone has a great new year!

I just skimmed through a few episodes and you're right, almost every other scene is a crying scene! I have a question about your stats in the video description, what counts as tears shed? Does a tear have to leave the eye to count as a tear shed? And do scenes with tears falling like rain count as scenes with running tears? Just curious because for some reason, I thought Bhavna was the most tearful, whereas based on your stats, Bruna has almost twice the number of tears shed, but if tears shed are the number of tears that leave the eyes and scenes with running tears are scenes where tears leave the eyes, then Bhavna has the highest average of tears per scene that has running tears (5.6 compared to Bruna's 5.4). I'm surprised that with this metric, Liza is the least tearful, she's still a great crier, but it's interesting to see that she's not as tearful as I thought. Wonder where Sajal Ali would stand, I'm hoping she'd come out on top, but even if she doesn't, she's still one of the best and most consistent criers out there.

I try to count individual tears as best as I can based on how many leave the eyes. If we don’t actually see them leave the eyes but it’s obvious between shots that there are fresh tear tracks on the face then I will judge how many extra tears there have been and add to my count. So I have a theory Bruna’s number is much higher because she does tend to have a lot of tears on her face between shots. I don’t think I’m changing how I count them over time, at least I’m not conscious of it.

Another thing I do separately on the google sheet is falling tears. This is any tear that we see dropping off the face any point, whether from the eyes, chin, etc. Sometimes these can be really subtle, it doesn’t indicate how visible they are. Here Bruna only just narrowly scrapes the lead over Bhavna - bear in mind the Bruna video is longer with more scenes, so Bhavna is definitely more of a ‘rainer’ overall, while su

Haha most Filipino shows are definitely a challenge, and there are so many to choose from. I’d classify Forevermore as actually being one of the easier ones to go through, yet it’s still my longest video so far. There are shows with a similar amount of episodes where the lead actress cries 200-300 times instead of 100.

Here’s one I found quite notable: 88 episodes, 20 mins each, which sounds comparatively easy to edit but just skimming through you’ll see the lead actress cries in almost every scene she’s in - the final count must be truly insane here https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGRhcC_vtOrZJdGsOc8rr-zwoaiJmbJ8X

To answer Cray’s question no I don’t think Bhavna has done any other crying roles yet, fingers crossed for more in future.

Sorry if I missed a few lip curls it’s perhaps something I’m not as conscious of when I’m focusing on the tears, I will try to do better!

Hi everyone. Cray stinger asked me if I would share the thumbnails for my crying supercut videos so here goes:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10yPasUguuscuiwA873ZULj_yW58xXbCK

I've uploaded the high res thumbnails without text along with the underlying images for each one, plus some extra ones that I couldn't fit in the thumbnails ;)

I wrote a bit about my process on the supercuts thread but here's a summary of how I've achieved the falling tears 'time lapse' effect on each individual image: I take multiple screenshots of falling tears from a video and overlay them on different layers in photoshop. I then crop out the tear's position and paste them all together using a soft eraser to hide sharp edges. Sometimes I go a bit crazy with it as you can see!

I'll add more images periodically as I work on them. Enjoy!

Ahh you know what I couldn't stop myself. Here's my process in detail:

First step is obviously just tracking down content. Easier said than done especially as I try to locate ALL of the crying scenes in something. I do mean all - this is actually a big deal for me, as if it wasn't obvious I'm kind of a crazy OCD guy so it's my top priority to make sure I don't miss anything. So the only way to make sure is to acquire every episode of it. That's easy if it's on YouTube (using script tools like youtube-dl) but a challenge otherwise. There's no silver bullet here but I've gone to extreme lengths before like subscribing to random foreign streaming services and using chrome extensions to extract the feeds.

Next I isolate the crying scenes. I'm on Mac, I use QuickTime to skim through which is much more responsive than YouTube and so it allows me to locate crying scenes quite fast. I then trim the entire scenes out and save them separately, QuickTime does this losslessly and quickly if it's just a single trim. Then I eventually delete the originals. It's a lot of disk space! Note: Please don't ask me to share files - I really wouldn't be comfortable, I settled on my supercuts as the most ethical (and practical) way of sharing.

Next... iMovie. I start a new project using a template of just the title and end screen which I made for my first video. I drag the first scene in. I immediately crop the edges of the screen and mess with the colour balance a bit to hopefully throw off YouTube's automated detection. Then I start working my way through the clip, cutting out small clips of the best bits, making sure to show all tear movement, sobbing etc. The keyboard shortcuts are muscle memory now. As I'm going through I'll also have a private copy of the stats google sheet open and keep on adding to my counts as I go, including the timestamps. I basically never go back once I've added something in, it's just easier to do one pass of it. If I need to adjust the crop on individua

Excellent as always! I'm surprised she doesn't shed more unchecked tears, but it's not much of an issue for me as I like tear filled eyes and tears that fall like rain (there weren't as many of those as there were in Reign, but they were still good), and I liked that she wipes her tears in a good number of scenes, though it'd have been great if she hadn't completely covered her face/eyes when she did that. The thumbnail for the video was outstanding, can you post your thumbnails in the images section? Your thumbnails are as good as your videos.

Glad you appreciate the thumbnails! I do tend to go a bit over the top with them. Yes I'll upload some images soon I think.

You might have guessed, but for each of the individual 'images' that make up a thumbnail I end up taking a few screen shots during tear falls and overlay them on top of each other to make it look like an impossible amount of tears falling all at once. That wasn't originally the plan but I found it so hard to choose which individual frames look best during a scene and then discovered I could easily combine them. It doesn't take too long to do that on photoshop, it's something I do while the video is rendering / uploading.
So it is super unnatural looking but I figured it's certainly striking (which is what a thumbnail's for, right?)

Hmm... writing this up made me think I should share a bit more about my whole end to end process for making the videos. If you're interested I'll happily share more.

IT'S HERE! Reign crying supercut! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELNPAlY9TyQ

Hope you all enjoy! Can't believe I got it done already. I definitely don't know how long I'll keep up this kind of pace

In the interest of speeding things up I have defaulted to just muting parts where there's music rather than trying to blend the audio together. I hope this isn't too distracting.
I've also tweaked the spreadsheeta bit. Removed the images as they take too long to load (and make) and replaced them with timestamps for the videos. Amans I only just saw your suggestion about adding a tears wiped column, maybe I'll think about it later.

I don't want to talk about what the next videos will be, I'd rather not have that kind of pressure. Also don't want to keep spamming this thread with updates on videos in progress.
Please do subscribe to my channel! I also have a crying archive Twitter  and Instagram, which is currently empty. Not sure how much I'll use them yet.
Thanks for all the support so far everyone!
