Today my friend and I were invited to play some music at a vernissage for a new book. Originally I was not the one to accompany my friend. He planned on giving a little concert with a friend of his who also was the writer of the book the vernissage was given for. Sadly the author and music player passed before the vernissage and I was the one to fill in. The son of the passed author took over the introduction of the book and he was quite emotional. He is in his mid forties and quite good looking with already some silver threads in his hair. When he told the public of the passing his voice failed and he stuttered. He didn't shed tears but his nose was running and I could see his eyes glisten with tears because I was sitting so near (I was sitting in front of the piano, which was right beside the speaker) I could physically feel the effort of this man who tried to keep his composure. I was not prepared to anything like this and you can believe that my play was quickened by this episode!
