A hotel in New York City that took in many Titanic survivors reports a lot of ghostly activity, including (male) sobbing.  (It was mostly sailors who were brought there).  
If you actually believe that this is true, and take into account that the ghosts would be survivors who didn't die there, that's some heavy trauma and grief to have left such a strong psychic imprint.
