He sheds a quiet tear like it doesn't even register to him that it's happening. He make the 'silent tear spilling out of wet eyes' feel genuine and not a cop-out to save the actor's dignity--it fits with his character, who was quiet and off-kilter even before spending 20 years on death row.
Clips are from episode 4x1, in which his struggles with his sense of reality and his very self are at the fore.
These next three are all the same scene. I tried to clip them as smoothly as possible considering my software only records 3 minutes at a time. It's a long, understated scene but the quiet tears in the first and last clip make much more sense in the context of the whole scene, plus there's tear tracks on his face in (most of) the scene.

Aden Young was PHENOMENAL on this show and had so many beautiful crying scenes.

Squonk, it def seems like the kind of show with plenty of crying. If you can point me in the direction of more scenes, I'd be happy to clip them!
