I had a nice observation with a couple. In my experience it is very rare to see couples crying together, most of the time one of the couple has to be the strong one and comforts the other one. Acually it was similar what I witnessd today but I start at the beginning.
I know this couple since a few years, they are not married but know each other for a long time. The man is very handsome, a classic beauty with an athletic body and a friendly face. The woman has an italian temper and is also good looking. Toaday they were sitting opposite me holding hands waiting for me to tell them someething important to them. I told them some good news and the woman burried her head on the shoulder of the man and sobbed audible. The man had still turned his face towards me and I could see his eyes water, saddly he wiped away the tears and didn't let them run down his cheeks. They stayed like this for like two minutes until the woman gathered her composure and wiped away some tears of her own. It was a very intimate moment the two shared together and for me it was even better because it involved some tears.
The second observation is already a few weeks ago and costed me a lot of energy. I had to resign one of my empolyees. She was working for us for a few weeks and it didn't work out well, she didn't belong to the team, wasn't able to do her job properly. I was thinking a lot about how to say her, that she can't stay with us.
When I called her to my office and told her she had to quit it was a real desaster because she started crying. It was a complete different situation because I was the one who caused the tears to flow and I was very helpless. It is completely different to "enjoy" someones tears or be the one who is responsible for the pain an other feels.
