There's a movie that's coming out soon (if it's not out already) that's called "The Little Death". It's a story about the secret lives of five suburban couples living in Sydney, showing both their fetishes and the repercussions that come with sharing them. I mention this only because one of the couples is about a dacryphilic woman and her husband; from what I've read, it's more about the kind of crying lover that is on this board than about the sadistic type. Either way, having a movie feature dacryphilia as part of the plot may be interesting; hopefully it may also lead to more discussion and representation of this fascinating condition in the media in the future.

I wonder if the sadistic ones are really rare or just unable/unwilling (not allowed?) to admit it here?
But if you look up the term usually the first description you see is about the sadistic version of it. At least that's the impression I first got when I looked it up trying to diagnose myself a few wks ago. Then I read on and saw the "voyeuristic" version and was like yeah that fits better.

I don't think it's that so much as that this isn't really a place for them. I don't say that to be mean or judgemental, but it seems to me that the majority of the dacryphilia community is geared towards sadism/BDSM. (Which can be fine and dandy if the participants are two willing adults.) This is our weird little hideout.

BDSM content is not allowed, however, I have long considered adding a "Restricted Section" in the forum for those who might want to explore the more raunchy side of dacryphilia, but the main reason I didn't is because the site doesn't allow sexual content. This forum is more of an alternative for dacryphiliacs who may not want to delve into the darker areas. People who are into this stuff can admit it here, but they should leave off any detail.

Fair enough.

Ooh, this sounds very interesting! I'm definitely going to see it. Hoping for some good comforting scenes.

I don't suppose it'll be playing in theaters? I'd love to take my boyfriend to it. Post-movie conversation would be a great way to feel around for his opinion on this stuff and see if maybe telling him could be an option someday, but since we're virtually unheard of (and when we are, as previously mentioned, it's usually in the context of things I myself find turn-offs), I've never had an opportunity to do so.
