I know this has been posted before among the very first things that had been posted on this section but i guess i'll emphasize it again. I have just recently read a few comments on this movie on IMBD about the intercation between Robert Taylor ( Johnny Eager) and Van Heflin who won an Oscar for his role. Van Heflin's acting is higly analyzed in the context of his character that seems almost passionately in love with the main character, his lines displaying hints about it. Among those things his two unusual crying scenes are brought in discussion as showing anguish and longing far beyond what was accepted at those times as far as friendship between men went. I think those two scenes are amazing for the vividness and sincerity of what is shown in terms of emotions at a time when men's vulnerability was higly subdued and concealed. I still can't believe this was possible in the 40' and i'm happy to see that those things were put on display even at those times..what a magnificent beauty !

''I like crying. And now I not only wanna cry and show my crying to other people, I wanna just split myself down the middle and open my guts and just throw everything out!''
