Crying Videos » Dear Evan Hansen, Ben Platt cries while singing and its magic! » November 1, 2017 11:17 pm

I saw that interview.  Aside from that many fellow actors have been blown away by his ability to recreate the same emotional intensity every single night.  That's really rare to be that consistent.  And i imagine exhausting.

Here's a treat for you, love. Go to this site, close all the pop-ups that come up, and it is a live taping of DEH. Page 2 (the link below) has that song-scene start at around 41 min - to the end. He really is incredible! Enjoy!

BTW - there are TONS of other shows on this website that were recorded live...enjoy, everyone!

Omg those close ups...

Thanks! He's a unicorn of some kind.  I sing too.  Ppl have no idea how technically difficult it is to sing while crying, let alone sing that well.  And he does it as part of a day at work.

Edit: A wonderful person added a video link below....oh em gee. Never mind the dacryphilia. If you watch/ listen to this without crying yourself you need a pulse check

Sadly there's no video just audio.  Everyone i know whi has seen the sow says he cries so much durring this number that he has snot dripping down his face with the tears.  He does this night after night and somehow still sings.
This is the cast recording.  He cried dieting the recirxing as well and you can hear it.  It's so raw.  But I'm. told its nothing like when he's crying live.
Still the sound is amazing and the song is heartbreaking a ff his voice is wow.

@Flatter: It was a very constipated cry, and so it gave me no relief. I think I'm too used to clenching emotions to let it out properly. I became a little tearful today as well. I pounded the bed with my fist and then had my fist on my forehead. My eyes teared up.

@meantangerine: Yes I'm willing, by pm.

It  can take concious practice to overcome the ingrained habit of withholding crying necessary for release.
There's a small book i saw, an ebook called stength within tears in which the author explains how he went about that. It might interest you.
I hope things get better

I was watching the news when the case of the terminally ill baby Charlie Gard came on. The parents have been compelled to let their baby go, and I watched the father give a tearful statement. I was pretty moved by the end of it and found myself getting misty eyed. Immediately I got out my phone and tried to sob. My eyes welled up to the point where my vision was partly blurred. But alas, try as I might, I couldn't get the tears to spill. My lip curled mildly and trembled and my nose got runny.

It was a disappointing venture, but I do have the footage. If I can ever get emotional to the point where my eyes overflow, I'll post a cropped image directly here. I can once again offer a screencap of my eyes, or my mouth (if you want to see a hideous shape) to interested parties who want to see the meagre fruits of my efforts.

I have found that getting the phone out halts the emotional release. Better is to set the camera up somewhere inconspicuous before you start watching something emotional so that by the time you're in the experience you don't notice it's there
