Songs about crying

What are some of your favorite songs about crying?  Do you have a "fetish playlist", if you will?  If so, this is the place to share it!

Some of my current favorites:

1 - "Blow Your Nose" by Mum.  Discovered this lesser known song (and consequently, band) a few months back.  It also relates to another topic I just recently posted on the related fetish forum.  Just love the idea of someone utilizing a sleeve like that, and the lyrics are lovely.  It took me a little bit to get into the band's style, but they've grown on me a lot and now I love their music.

And, here's the song lyrics in case there's something you can't hear properly/understand - http://www.songlyrics.com/mum/blow-your-nose-lyrics/

2 - "Cry" by Faith Hill.  Always adored this song, but it feels even more relevant to me since I broke up with a boyfriend about two years ago.  This song sums up my feelings about that relationship perfectly.

Link to official vid on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcGntdbDB5Q  Personally I think the vid is a little overdone, but then, I feel that way about most music videos.

3 - "Crying" by Roy Orbison.  A classic song I just love.  There's also a great female cover of this song in the David Lynch film Mulholland Drive (weird film, but that's David Lynch!) sung by a woman named Rebekah del Rio...that one is in Spanish.

Rebekah del Rio version from Mulholland Drive movie - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAbmfVzPHFg&feature=related  This is from the actual movie.  The person who uploaded it must have been...Swedish maybe?  Not sure what the language on the subtitles is. *shrugs*  Oh, and there's female crying in this movie scene, too!

Your turn!  What are your favorite songs about crying?

Re: Songs about crying

Johnny Ray sang both "The Little White Cloud that Cried", and another song called "Cry".  He was quite an emotional singer; among his nicknames were "Prince of Wails", "Nabob of Sob", and "Mr. Emotion".

Mine would have to be 'The Crying Game', both the original version and the Boy George cover

Re: Songs about crying

Songs don't really do much for me. They never get into the detail that I want. Mostly they just gum up my search results with lyrics or youtube videos.

Re: Songs about crying

I am wishing I could think of one so I could contribute to this thread!!!  I can't think of anything.  I like dramatic moments in musicals, but they're not songs "about" crying -- it's more that they're just emotional songs and some crying or gasping might happen somewhere in them (there's a thread somewhere where we're going to compile a list of plays and musicals that have those kinds of scenes... I don't see much live theater, so I can't really think of anything... and when I used to, I don't think my fetish was as fully developed as it is now!)

If we're also talking about songs with crying sounds in them that aren't necessarily about crying, I can think of one right now.  I like the MJ one, "Will You Be There".  He does a spoken passage at the end with a shaky, emotional voice, and then, at the very end of that passage, his breath catches with a gasp type sound.  He cries more obviously in She's Out of My Life because he sings right through it, but I prefer the prolonged emotional talking of this one and the subtleties of the sounds of the building emotions (a strained word here, a wobbly or whispery word there).

Might as well post. Starting at 4:54

Basically, any songs that have "emotional sounds" in them are what I love!  I think I'm more about the sounds than the words, especially if the sounds sound genuine.  The emotion itself could definitely be brought on intentionally for the recording, but I think I can usually tell the difference between trying to sound all 'gaspy' and dramatic while singing (acted) and actual gasps and dips in the voice that are less controlled.  But both are quite nice in their own way -- I say bring the gasps on, however they come!!!

Re: Songs about crying

Oh yeah, and to add to the above, whenever I'm listening to a song (or movie, or interview, etc.) that I know has little gasps or sharp or shaky breaths in it, or an emotional voice, I try to use headphones.  You hear little things you wouldn't otherwise have noticed.

Re: Songs about crying

I feel the same way.  On listening to Michael Crawford's version of "Bring Him Home", I'm almost certain he begins to break down on the lines "You can take, you can give, let him be, let him live."  His voice becomes more dramatic and there's an edge to it that sounds like he's suppressing emotion.  And I can hear, right at the very end, a soft indrawn breath/gasp.

Oh, I didn't think of that...songs with crying sounds, I mean.  That's a really good point.  I should have thought of that, especially since I was in a gospel choir at my church a number of years ago, and people often got obviously emotional while singing. Well, I think we should add those here as well!  Is it possible for one of the mods to change the title to something like "songs with/about crying"?  That way people who are just interested in the songs with crying noises will know to look here as well.

Good song, btw, woundedpuppy!
