Thank you for posting this. Peterson is a crying master but I also think he's sort of manipulating people with his display of emotions. You can also see him crying a lot in this one from 1:20 :00 on.

I don't think so at all. He spent many years on high doses of ssris like myself which inhibits your ability to cry and feel emotion and now that he is off then I think he just embraces the full range of his emotions as is healthy. You may not agree with everything he has to say but he is a genuinely empathetic person who suffered with severe mental illness and depression himself including suicidal ideation for years and understands what is like first hand.
What possible manipulation could there be in it for him when he gets emotional talking about the loneliness of others? Not his own suffering or pity for himself, but the suffering of strangers? He gains nothing from that. I think he's terribly misjudged. We as a society try to encourage men not to suppress their emotions anymore and that it's OK to cry but when a public figure demonstrates a softness in that regard you see manipulation. Cut him a little slack

I still like Jordan Peterson overall so please don't get me wrong about me saying that. I've been following his lectures since 2017 and I also read 12 Rules for Life and Maps of Meaning (his first book) and I think he's very insightful man but I recently got the impression , in the last 2 years that he's sort of hiding something about his personal life that sort of consumes him or makes him have a susceptible mood at times. I'm not talking here about the his moments of gratitude towards his followers during which he also cries. I'm talking about certain moments during some interviews when he's asked what he was doing or some random topic it's been brought about and he suddenly tears up or becomes gloomy. I didn't know al ot of details about the effects of those meds you were talking about but I noticed Peterson crying very openly even from about 2018 ( this is the first time I saw him shedding tears

I agree. I just really don't think he's manipulative at all. I think he's just a sensitive soul. And yeah SSRIs make it really hard to cry. I havnt cried in many months even when i feel I need to. It's an annoying side effect.
He's not hiding anything. He's just predisposed to depression and has been for most of his life. He's been very open about that.
Also over the last couple of years His recent saga with the Canadian board of psychology forcing him to get "reeducated" because he objected to certain en vogue policies which he felt were doing damage to the feild of psychology and were disengenuous nearly cost him his career and his license and caused him tremendous stress and he was bitter about it. That stress showed. There was nothing secret going on. It's just his way. He wears his heart on his sleeve and feels things very deeply.
