Have you seen videos/photos of people you know IRL crying?

Just wondering whether people have come across (either on social media or YouTube) photos and videos of people you know in real life crying? I obviously won't post them here, but I've seen two videos of women I know (and while I'm not super close with either of them, I'd call them friends) crying online.

One is on Instagram, and she actually cries tears of joy in the video. The quality isn't great, but a single tear trickling down each cheek is visible (which she quickly wipes, and the video is quite short).

The other is on YouTube, a vlog style video where this lady tears up and has tear-filled eyes for a good portion of the video. She wipes her eyes and blinks back her tears before any can trickle down, but the tears are visible in her eyes.

I've also seen a photo of another young lady I was friends with a few years ago where while no tears were visible, it looked like she'd been crying as her eyes were slightly red and damp and it looked like she'd just wiped tears off her face (and the context of the post heavily suggested that she indeed had been crying before taking the picture).

I've seen another post from a different friend on Instagram where she talks about crying a lot with one of her friends, but none of the photos showed either of them (her or her friend) crying.

Have you seen these sorts of posts, photos, videos?

Yup. Back in the day when Facebook was actually cool, a lot of my friends’ crying photos made it onto the internet. But over the last 10 years I haven’t seen a single one.

I see. How do you feel when you see those? I personally felt a little awkward the first time I saw the videos of my friends.

A couple of thought experiments - what are the odds that one of us on this forum has come across crying photos or videos of a friend or family member of someone else on this forum? Also, what do the personal friends and family members of people who regularly post crying videos online (especially some girls on TikTok and similar platforms) think about their crying content? Just thinking out loud.

I like seeing those photos! Reminds me of a time when I was much more social and got many more obs.

I posted a personal crying video on YouTube in 2005. Given how proficient some of the people on this forum were in finding crying content, I’m sure at least some of our older members have seen it.

I haven’t had that experience, there are some childhood friends I would love to see crying but, it hasn’t happened.

@Truffle, now you got me really curious, is the video still available?

No. I was very young at the time.

I saw a photo of my friend who I have a cush on crying buckets of happy tears on Mother's Day at the gift her daughter made for her.  It was years since I last saw her cry, not since high school, so this pic stood out to me. Her tears pooled a little under one eye while a single tear sat on her cheek, and her other cheek was glistening wet.  She was smiling in a way that I could tell her lip was quivering even though it was an image. There were more pictures of her taken right afterwards where her mascara was smudged on the edges of her eyes.

Not directly in the internet, but I have a friend -who has also a yt channel- who once obviously forgot to delete some private cry on cue video of himself he stored in backup data on my external hd ;)

(though the video was nothing spectacular, 1 minute, bad quality and not a lot to see)
