Cruise
Tom Cruise is not one of my favourite actors. I saw this scene a long time ago and I never was sure if I liked it or if he is overdoing it.
The scene starts at 152 and continues at 161.20
Another Cruise film is
146.30 and just a little bit later where Nicole Kidman cries as well

His a bit overdoing it but later on when he is on the sofa the tears looks very genuine both in Magnolia and in Eyes Wide Shut, i guess he overdoes the sobbing part.

I saw War of the Worlds with him long time ago and I remember him crying quite a bit in that movie. He's a decent crier, though I agree he seems to over do it. I've mentioned the scene from Top Gun on this forum before, and I think him working super hard NOT to cry is way hotter than him losing it like he does in Magnolia. This is probably crier specific because one of my all time favorite crying scene is Robert Downey Jr complete breakdown at the end of Two Girls and a Guy. I guess I just believe him more.

I remember the flim "War of the Worlds" and the one crying scene I remember is in a restaurant, thea are on the flight together and Cruise is with his children. There is another one in the cellar with his girl when he tries to sing her to sleep.
Have you seen the interview about Eyes Wide Shut? Stanley Kubrick died when the film wasn't even finished. I guess this is a real emotion, no crying, no tears he just can't go on talking.

This one is funny enough but the crying really looks nice. I think it's from the Color of Money when he gets a breaking up letter from his girlfriend.

That one with the letter was tonally bizarre, as everything about the letter is absurdly comical, while everything else in the scene is played like a serious drama. The crying was quite nice.

I actually really like his scene from Top Gun when he gives Goose's wife his things. It is really understated by heartbreaking. Somehow it seems more real that way.
