Wow! I had not seen this one in years, but it was a favorite of mine when younger. The backstory is that Anne Shirley's (Megan Follows) adoptive father died suddenly of a heart attack, and she's finally crying over it. Her adoptive mother is played by the late Colleen Dewhurst:
Actually, this film -- and its sequel, "Anne of Avonlea" -- has a number of touching crying scenes in it. I'll try to find these if I can, though I suspect they're a bit scarce on Youtube.

Wow lovely. I love Megan Follows' crying for obvious reasons. I watched both green gables and avonlea, though I forgot about this scene. There's another crying in bed scene like this in avonlea, which is my favourite Megan Fellows crying scene in the series.

Are you talking about the scene toward the start "Avonlea," where Anne is crying because Gilbert hurt her feelings, and Marilla comforts her? I love that one, too, even more than the scene above. It always makes me tear up.
Edited to add: I read that the dialogue to the scene I posted from "Green Gables" was not scripted but actually improvised by the two actresses. Remarkable!

My memory of this series is pretty hazy, but I think it's near the end when Anne discovers that Gilbert is sick, or something. I just remember a really nice lip curl from her on that scene.
