Michael Redgrave in Dead of Night

A nice crying scene from young, handsome Michael Redgrave in the creepy 1945 horror classic Dead of Night

Happy (belated) Halloween!

If it hadn't been identified, I would have sworn that this was from "The Twilight Zone". The dummy looks like the one from one of their famous episodes.

Caircair:  I was thinking the same thing!  The Twilight Zone episode was called "The Dummy" and starred Cliff Robertson.  He didn't cry in the episode, but he did get hysterical at one point.

Tristana:  That was an interesting scene, especially considering you don't see many men in '40's films crying.

Re: Michael Redgrave in Dead of Night

I suspect he could get away with it because he was "mentally disturbed". "Normal" men didn't cry and it was a sign of just how "abnormal" he was.

Wonderfull scene, Tristana...it was a close up, i guess they took care of the tears to be shown like that

''I like crying. And now I not only wanna cry and show my crying to other people, I wanna just split myself down the middle and open my guts and just throw everything out!''
