I was in church today (Episcopal), and at one point during the service one of the older members got up to give a short talk about some charitable work he and some other church members had been doing. As he spoke he admitted to crying over some of the sad stories of the people he'd been helping. He didn't go into details; but after he'd sat back down I could see him wiping his eyes. He continued wiping his eyes for some time, and looked totally unashamed to be doing so. What made it all so interesting is that this man is from New York City and comes across as a typical "tough New Yorker" type. Personally, I always like it when people you'd never expect to tear up in public actually do so.

I almost always cry in church. It's just feels like a good, safe place to cry.

It's funny, I grew up in the episcopal church, and I never saw anyone crying! That's why we're called "God's Frozen People" I guess lol.
