Richard Gere does a good job shedding a few tears at the end of Unfaithful but that scene is quite dark and only half of his face could be seen in it. Do you know any other movies that show him sobbing or crying?

This one from East Enders seems very high in pitch :
This was 28 years ago, Wow !!
This one seemed a bit strange towards that end )

Yes, I recall writing about this film as well somewhere in the thread. I don't know any particularly film where the main male lead cries as much as in this movie.
PhoebeOnthePhone posted 6 scenes from this movie in a separate thread. I searched them up again and she mentions your suggestion there as well. I'm just sorry I couldn't open them back then so I posted them again from a different link. I tried to open her links again and they aren't working anymore or at least they won't open from my laptop.
I don't recall any other movie which has so much crying from the lead as well. Only soap operas maybe..

I think this guy deserves his special place in the crying lovers section. What I thought it would be only a few two or three casual one tear crying moments turned out to be a very long and rich tearful mess in the second half of the movie. He plays the role of a man who had suffered severe trauma at the hands of an abusive father and his other relatives seem to taunt and bully him continuously until he breaks down all the way crying or sobbing in almost every scene. I like the fact that in the first part of the movie, we don't see him crying that much but there's a build-up to his emotions which explode in the last part.
At 15:20 he talks to his older sister in prison and he has an anxiety attack. Seconds before he falls down on the ground 2 big tears stream down his cheeks.
At 54:05 he is talking about his traumas with the therapist and he's almost crying but then he leaves the room. At 59:00 he tears up again.
At 1:02 he talks to his sister in prison again, this time they argue violently and both start crying. At 1:05:31 he's shown in his car with tears streaming down his face taking short breaths.. At 1:07:44 he's arguing with his girlfriend and after she leaves him alone he begins to cry silently. At 1:13:00 he's freaked out when his other sister behaves inappropriately with him, he starts sobbing then.
At 1:14:;00 he finally talks in therapy about a very distressing incident from his childhood involving his sister and tears drip from his nose and eyes while he's being comforted by the therapist.
At 1:19:00 he talks to his younger sister and he begins crying very intensely again, his face being kind of blotched at the end of the scene. The next scenes until the end are also with him either sobbing or crying.

Mike Vogel is a very cute crier. Too bad there aren't too many scenes with him emotional. I researched him a bit and I found that he also cries in ep 3 of Chilhood's End, season 3 at 33:00 and at 43:00 ( it's the same scene that continues with a memory).
Re-edit : There's a more intense scene with him having a breakdown in The Case for Christ after the character's father death at around 1:30:00.

He has some nice crying/ sobbing scenes in his latest series Kübra, which is about a man with super powers who can predict and influence indirectly ominous events. He starts sobbing at the end of ep 2 in Season 1 when he anticipates the suicide of his sister(?) and he acts as a medium for her father's spirit to communicate with her and prevent her death.
( he starts tearing up at 33:07 he's aso shown crying at 31:04)
( he starts crying with tears streaming down while praying at 15:30 and at talking to his girlfriend about losing faith at 18:00, being comforted by his girlfriend at 35:38)

The last 7 minutes of episode 8 show the main character sobbing and whimpering very intensely.
Crying Discussion » How can I find content? » January 16, 2024 6:03 pm |
I usually start by googling an actor, writing his name, and crying in the search bar and then I press images or clips and see what I can find. Then I find a few pictures from films or series and look them up in detail on a film site. That kind of takes me a lot of time but I try to note down my findings and resume them at a later time and I look some information up on youtube as well.

Allen Ritchson sheds a single tear at about 41:20 of E8 of S1 of Reacher. Men crying are not my thing, but I can appreciate the context of that scene.
Spoilers ahead
The show is, more or less, a tough guy beat up bad guys show, typical action flic. Fun to watch, but not generally much meaning in the story. The protagonist is your typical tough guy, punch his way through the world. The scene I mention though is pretty good, it makes that tough guy human. It's a flashback, him and his brother visit their sick mother, before they visit his brother says(paraphrase) "Don't cry" after the visit is over, his brother says "Now you can cry".
This could have been a very nice scene but that tear is so shiny that almost looks fake or CG. Why are they really doing this ? If they can't cry they should just leave it aside..
