Thanks, October. Those are good too. I like the gif I posted because it's very minimal-- over-dramatic soap opera style emotions don't really appeal to me. I like it better when it seems as if someone is wrestling with themselves and trying not to cry. It sounds like they cry a lot in Supernatural which I think would get old for me after a while, because tears from a "crybaby" don't have a lot of weight, if that makes sense.

I'd rather not talk about it as it's private and I also don't feel like crying is really a "fetish" to me so conflating them feels kind of weird. That's interesting that others here have a similar situation, though.

If you're into implied/minimalist crying, there's a really good scene in Drive where Ryan Gosling is talking to Carey Mulligan's character outside the elevator. His face is mostly in shadows but you can hear him getting emotional as he talks to her and his voice breaks. The elevator opens and spills light on them and as Ryan looks up you can see tears on his cheeks. It's really subdued and played down but struck a chord with me. There are also some other scenes where he gets emotional and is shaking/sweating but no crying.
Also, for anyone who loves Ryan Gosling as much as I do, apparently he cries in The Place Beyond the Pines which is coming out this month.

I would love to see this... Ryan Gosling is definitely my celebrity crush. Anyone know if there's another copy of this somewhere?

Well I am a newbie who just found this forum so my opinion counts for exactly zilch, but I have to say I don't know that I would have signed up or looked into this forum if it was called "crying fetish forum." For me the interest is not sexual. It squicks me out a little to think of my interest as being a "fetish" because that seems like getting pleasure from other people's pain (real or acted), whereas for me it's more like an extreme sense of empathy that triggers some need in me to experience strong emotions. If that makes any sense... haha. I'm actually thinking about a lot of this for the first time because of this forum, but would never have signed up if it was called a "fetish forum" right in the title. Just something to think about for potential new members.

This scene really impacted me when I watched the movie, and in the past I'd searched youtube for it but never got anything. Looks like someone has put it up since then. Towards the end his crying gets really uncontrolled and you can still hear him when it cuts to black... poor guy.
| Crying Videos » Mad Men - the famous Don Draper Scene » March 18, 2013 7:01 pm |
I like the season two one better, but for some reason it's always overlooked. There don't seem to be any clips or gifs of it, so if I want to watch it I have to load up Netflix and skip to that point in the episode. It just seems more in line with his character, and his emotional state leading up to it is great (hands and voice shaking, etc.) It seems unlikely to me that a guy like Don Draper wouldn't hide his face/try to control his crying as much as possible so maybe that's why the second scene doesn't really appeal to me-- it seems "fake."

So, I found these gifs. Some googling has told me that the first two gifs are from Sherlock, the second one is from True Blood, and the third is from Supernatural. These images are all over tumblr (great place to search for crying pictures by the way) but none of them say what the episode or scene these are from. I don't watch any of these shows so I don't know where to begin in finding them, but I'd love to watch them in context instead of just a short looped gif.
Anybody know?

Tumblr has tons of animated gifs from various movie/TV scenes. There are even a few blogs dedicated just to this. Just search for "crying" and the like.

Just found this board. I have to say that for me it's not at all sexual, and I didn't actually realize there was such a thing as a crying fetish. However, for whatever reason it affects me very strongly emotionally to see a man cry. Women crying don't really do anything for me. I guess that sounds like it's sexual in some way (I'm a straight female), especially because young, attractive men crying affect me more than older or unattractive men, but I've never felt like there is a sexual component to it. A romantic one, maybe. Seeing a cute guy cry pulls at my heartstrings and makes me want to comfort him. Especially if he's a "macho" guy who is struggling not to cry but can't help himself. I always thought this made me weird. I always self-conscious when I'm watching a movie or TV with other people and crying scenes come up, because I feel so deeply affected. I guess that means I'm empathetic... right? ;)
I do have an actual fetish of another kind, though, which you might say is related to the same core idea (a strong man being made vulnerable/loss of control), but I've never thought about crying in a sexual way or become aroused by it. Like some other people have said, it's more about emotional vulnerablity/closeness/comfort than anything else. I am not a hugely sexual person to begin with and I think I have more emotional desires/needs than sexual ones. I guess this kind of thing just presses the right buttons.
