I was recently hit with a burst of inspiration to write a fic! We'll see how far this goes. Here is the first part:
Fantasy Maker
Valerie sat in the hotel lobby, looking sharp and mostly composed, yet she could feel herself shaking nervously with excitement. She was about to embark on an adventure the likes of which she had never experienced before.
A week ago, she had been talking to her friend Julia about acting lessons. Julia had mentioned a male friend of hers who taught acting lessons who also had a rather unique side job as a freelance “fantasy-maker" . Intrigued, Valerie had asked for details. Julia explained that, to make extra money and hone his improvisation skills, her actor friend performed privately for clients, catering to whatever sort of scene they might like to participate in. There were restrictions on things like nudity, of course -- he was not a prostitute. He always discussed things with the client ahead of time so that he had a clear picture of what they wanted and what he could bring to the scene both acting and props-wise. He charged by the hour. A deposit was required up front. Prices were high, but certainly not unreasonable for a private, interactive performance.
Valerie had always fantasized about comforting a crying man. It was something she had rarely gotten to experience in her life, since men so often suppress their emotions. For Valerie, it was more than just a fantasy -- it was a turn-on, a fetish. It drove her wild. Her friend Julia had tried a session with this male actor friend of hers in which she got to experience the feeling of having a conversation with someone in her life who had stopped talking to her, and had been very pleased with his performance. Having that particular conversation, even if he was a mere substitute for the actual person she really wanted to talk to, had allowed her to move on from a painful situation. Since the actor was someone Julia knew as a friend, Valerie immediately felt she could trust the guy and had asked for his contact information. Her friend had smiled mischievously and produced an email address, but no name to go with it. She said that he preferred it that way and that Valerie would prefer it that way as well. The whole idea was that he could be anyone she wanted -- his real name was irrelevant.
Mysterious as this was, Valerie trusted her friend (who admitted to knowing his real name) to be a good judge of character and had contacted the guy. He was very professional, explaining what he did and didn’t do and how it worked. Normally, he met with the client for lunch or dinner before launching into the hourly rate and acting/improvisation part of his services. This way, they could get used to each other, and he could get a sense of who he was working with and their chemistry before he began his work. He only required that his food and beverage costs be covered during this initial meeting.
Through several back and forth emails, Valerie had discussed the details of what she would like in her fantasy. He helped out with additional suggestions as well, which impressed her. She sensed that, beyond the reward of money, he truly seemed to enjoy his particular line of work and the process of co-creating a dream with someone. He wanted to make it as real as possible. Valerie had brought forth that she wanted a “friend" to approach her with a problem and need a shoulder to cry on. She wanted a full breakdown with hugging and cuddling, if he would allow it. He said that was fine, but there was to be no sexual groping. She was fine with that. They had discussed how the scene would go. He suggested they meet at a hotel, have dinner in the restaurant, and then check into a hotel room. He did not drink on the job, as it wrecked his concentration, but he offered that water made a good drink substitute and that they could pretend it was vodka and that this could be used in the scene to “loosen him up" . He asked her what name she’d like to use. She said she didn’t have one, as this wasn’t a fantasy about anyone in particular. He asked if there was a particular way she’d like him to dress. She left it up to him -- it wasn’t important. He had already sent her a picture and she thought he was adorable. He might not be everyone’s idea of gorgeous, but she thought there was something cute and likeable about him, even from just a picture. They decided that his reason for crying would be a secret until they actually played it out. He knew what his reason would be, but to have discussed it with her ahead of time would spoil the fantasy effect, he felt, and she agreed. She wanted it to be as real as possible. If he sensed that she didn’t like where something was going in a scene, he would adjust it as necessary.
Sitting in the hotel lobby, Valerie clutched her purse and checked her watch. He was due to arrive any minute. As she was rummaging through her purse to find a mirror, suddenly he was front of her. “Valerie?" he said, with a friendly smile on his face.
She looked up. He was even cuter in person. Really cute! ‘Wow,’, Valerie thought to herself. ‘This is going to be good...’

Valerie stood up and shook hands with her “unnamed" friend of a friend. Already she could feel herself blushing with excitement. He would probably feel her heart racing when they were acting out the scene, so there was no point in trying to hide or tone down her enthusiasm now. In fact, he would probably regard it as a sign that he was doing a good job!
“So, are you hungry?" he asked sweetly.
“Sure!" she said, which was a total lie, of course. Her stomach was already full of butterflies.
“Good, because I skipped lunch," he said, grinning. “Audition," he shrugged.
“Oh, how’d it go?" she asked.
He chuckled and shook his head as if to imply it went poorly.
Already Valerie liked this guy. She didn’t doubt his acting abilities for a minute because of her friend’s referral. She saw this response as more of a sign that he was humble and down to earth. He seemed like the sort who was able to laugh at himself and the world.
“Well, let’s get you fed, then!" she said, and gestured toward the restaurant.
During their dinner, Valerie got to know a bit about the man behind the fantasy-making. He was enthusiastic, yet almost a bit on the shy side at times. He explained that his goal was to be a movie star. He absolutely loved the world of make-believe, whether that meant acting in a high budget movie or doing a puppet show for his nephews, which she thought was sweet. He was not only an actor, but a writer as well, and from the way he spoke, she could tell he was very smart. He admitted that he was currently unattached, which made Valerie’s heart start to beat faster. He was seeming cuter by the minute and was such a nice guy that she could almost see herself going on a REAL date with him. But, almost nervously, as if he sensed her suddenly undressing him with her eyes, he pulled out a form for her to sign.
“I hate to do this, but I have to. It just protects us both," he explained, looking a bit sheepish.
“Oh, of course. You told me about this earlier," she said. The form protected her as far as assuring her complete confidentiality of anything that took place within their scene, and also protected him in various ways, such as if he ever used any general ideas or concepts from their scene in a future script. He did not want to risk being sued down the road! She signed the form and would pay him the balance at the end of their session.
With that business out of the way, they both seemed a bit relieved, and things began to feel lighter and more spontaneous. He told her that his schedule was open for a change and that he was free to go longer with the session if she decided she wanted extra time beyond the two hours she had booked. She liked that. If it was going extraordinarily well, there was the option to keep going. Likewise, if she hadn’t felt it would work out between them, she would have been out the cost of the dinner, but nothing more, which was reasonable. But looking at him, and feeling his energy and seeing the spark in his eyes when he talked about his passion for acting and make-believe, she knew he was perfect.
She excused herself to go to the bathroom before they headed upstairs to her hotel room, but forgot her purse on the table. As she turned back around to get it, she caught him unmistakably checking her out. He quickly averted his eyes, but it was too late. Noticing he was caught, he smiled at the floor and shook his head. “Julia warned me about you," he said laughing, without any further explanation. She took this to mean that Julia had told him she was pretty. She giggled at his compliment and quickly grabbing her purse, headed to the bathroom. ‘Good,’ she thought to herself. ‘We have chemistry AND he thinks I’m hot!!" Already her heart was melting a bit for this guy. She hoped she could keep somewhat professional like he was. As much as it seemed like he might be flirting with her, she also sensed a seriousness about him. He seemed to take his job very seriously. This was NOT a date. This was a gig for him. She repeated this to herself a few times so that her heart would not be broken by the end of their two hours.
When she got back to the table, he stood up, and said, “Shall we?"
She trembled at his words. He was looking very confident now and was back in a relaxed, friendly mode. It seemed he was most confident when he was in work mode and most shy when he was just casually talking about himself, like at dinner.
“OK," she said softly, and they headed up to her room.
In the elevator, he could tell she was getting nervous. “I don’t make you nervous, do I?" he asked.
“Oh no," she said. “I’m nervous in a good way... excited," she said.
“Just relax," he said, and squeezed her hand. It had both a calming effect and revved her up even more at the same time. “Everybody gets like this the first time. You'll relax once you get into it."
As they got to the hotel room door, he pulled out his cell phone and explained that he was setting the alarm. A short alarm would go off after one hour and then again 10 minutes before they were to finish the session. She flicked the lights on as she entered the room and put her purse on one of the beds. As the door slammed behind them, he slowly walked over to the table and plopped down on one of the chairs. He slumped over the table, gently laying his head down on it. His energy - his presence - had suddenly changed. He moaned, and with his head still pressed against the table, he said, “Could you grab me a glass from the bathroom, please? I think I need a drink."
And just like that, it had started.

If you guys like this, I'll keep going (although it might be a little while before I can write the next part).

Oh, do keep going!! haha. This is fantastic! I LOVE the actor fantasy concept.

I think I'm probably done with this fic. I really just wrote it to get some frustrations out of my system, and it worked even better than I could have imagined! The point was that she got to live out her fantasy with an actor, so it doesn't really matter what he did or she did at this point -- just fill in your own fantasy in you mind of how the scene played out and you're set.
I did have a tiny little twist for the end that I'll keep to myself just in case I ever do decide to finish it, but this is already the longest fic I've ever contributed to this group, lol.

I can definitely fill in the rest of the story in my mind. I'm so glad you posted this, though, because it's excellent! I hope at some point I can post some of my own fics, but I can never get them quite the way I want them, haha.

This is awesome! I think I might have an idea of what your twist was, just because I was thinking of something myself while I was reading it, but mum's the word in case you ever return to this.
At any rate, I'm incredibly jealous of the girl in your story. I'd do a lot for an opportunity like that.

Thanks, Punkchick! I wish I had an interest in continuing it right now, but I seem to have burnt out for the moment...
I think this scenario could exist in real life, but I wonder if anyone on the planet actually does it right now. I am not talking about "escort" services and anything remotely sexual, I'm just talking about people who just want to 'pretend' with another person -- to play, basically. Like kids do except you're adults and you get to choose the subject. I think it's a good business idea... hope someone out there grows this kind of business!!

Woundedpuppy, that sounds like a fantastic idea. Haha, it kind of reminds me of what I actually did when I was a kid...whenever I acted out scenarios and such, someone would always end up crying (probably two or three times).

I have actually started researching this... for real!! Interesting so far, but I've only just begun a very general search... people hire actors for all sorts of reasons!
If I find something suitable in my area, the hardest part would be to convince my husband! I really don't think he'd go for it, and going behind his back doesn't seem right. But if I work on him for a while, over time, maybe he would finally agree...
If I were to be paid for MY acting, I know he wouldn't have a problem!! So it's obviously not about the scene itself... it's about the context, I suppose...
I like coming up with creative solutions... will keep thinking about this one!
