New here, hoping others relate..I just figured out I have Dacryphilia

Hey guys,

First off, my name is Mo and I live in New Brunswick, Canada. I am 29 years old and am an out and proud lesbian. For as long as I can remember, even as a child..I was always really drawn to beautiful women who cry. Even in cartoons, at a younger age..not anymore. I've always sort of dismissed it, or kept it to myself because it makes me feel like a freak, or something in my head isn't right.

I actually hate seeing my girlfriends cry, it does break my heart and I wanna do all I can to comfort them. But when this happens, I often find myself getting turned on by their cries or sobs, depending on the person. I do not ever wish any pain or sadness on anyone, but for some weird, unexplained reason, I get really turned on by pretty girls who cry. No I would never engage in play leading up to making someone cry in the bedroom..the last thing on my mind when comforting a girl is sex, although I notice getting really turned on by their crying. I have never understood this, and started questioning it tonight..then I looked it up, and bam. Answers. I still feel weird and kind of ashamed of this...Like, I will purposely fast forward through movies to find good crying scenes that attractive actresses are in...what. the. Hell....

Sigh. I'm just glad I found this place cause I know I am not alone here..Any others relate, especially women? Because I read that most dacryphiliacs are men, and well, I am not..in the minority I guess lol Hope to meet some people on here who get me and this weirdness!

Welcome! You've definitely come to the right place! As far as relating goes, you'll find most of us "get it". And I think you'll find there is more than one kind of dacryphiliac - there's the BDSM type that actually gets a thrill from MAKING someone cry, which I think is mostly men, and there's the comforting type that wants to COMFORT someone crying but doesn't want to cause the crying. I think the second type is mostly women, and I suspect you are a comfort dacryphiliac as well. That's the kind I am, too - I DO NOT enjoy seeing people I care about crying because I'm too focused on easing their pain, but I can never NOT remember being intrigued/moved by the sight of someone crying on TV or in the movies. In my case, I respond most strongly to men crying, I think because there's that hint of the "forbidden" in our culture.

Welcome, Mo! I am also a woman, so you are most certainly not the only one. There are actually quite a bit of women on these forums! I, however, am straight and is attracted to more of the comforting, not the crying itself. I hope you enjoy being a part of this community.
