I can very much relate to nearly everything in your original post, Wounded Puppy.
I've been going through this frustrating phase where my old-standby clips aren't really working for me anymore, and I'm having a terrible time finding new ones that fit the bill in terms of realism & intensity.
Like you I'm mostly interested in scenes with close-ups of real, emotional tears that well up in the eyes and stream down. (I enjoy sobbing & trembling lips as well, but they're more of a perk than an absolute requirement). I also get weirdly fixated on particular actors/criers and find myself ignoring perfectly good scenes if I'm not interested in the people involved. I'd really like to find something new, but at the moment I just feel stuck.
I think this, as much as anything, is what's been keeping me off the forum for the past couple months, but I am starting to feel a little more optimistic. Hopefully the fall/winter movie season will be full of Oscar-worthy male crying scenes.

Rereading that fantastic Vincent Cassel interview prompted me to do a little research, and I came across his acceptance speech from the 2009 Cesar Awards (the French equivalent of the Oscars), where he won best actor for Mesrine.
The video is in French, which I only understand a tiny bit, but I still think it gives a sense of what his real-life crying might be like. His voice is strained and emotional throughout, and you can see his eyes fill with tears when he thanks his then wife, Monica Bellucci, and their young daughter.

These are all lovely! And such great video quality, too. I don't think I've seen this incarnation of putlocker before.
I'm always on the lookout for Jake Gyllenhaal clips. (I'm still holding out hope for the perfect extended crying scene compete with individual falling tears.) As you mention, these are all pretty subtle, but I especially like the wet eyelashes in the first scene and the adorable trembling lip in the last one.
Rebecca Ferguson's zero G tear is quite cool as well!

Thanks for posting this, Phoebe! Perfume is kind of a hobby of mine, but I've definitely never heard of this one. It's a shame that none of the sample sites have it available.
It makes sense that a fragrance meant to evoke sadness would be based on incense; I imagine something that smells like rainy days and old stone churches.

I definitely agree with you about the music in crying compilations -- I find them difficult to enjoy on their own, although they can sometimes be useful in terms of identifying new crying scenes to track down.
I came across the Jezebel compilation around the time I started exploring my interest in crying more seriously, and while I didn't find the video satisfying at all, I was really happy to have the list of actors/films included in the article. The comments on the were a also a big help for finding crying clips online.
The full-audio snippet from Shame at the end is by far the best part of this compilation -- I've been looking for a high quality video of that scene for ages, and so far I've never found one.

I completely agree that while he's a very promising cryer, it seems like he hasn't quite reached his full potential yet. But he's got beautiful blue eyes and a really expressive face, so I'm hopeful that there are better scenes yet to come. I'll be interested to see what he does next.

I missed this clip somehow. What a great performance! I definitely agree with your interpretation.
It's so interesting to watch the transition from "genuine" acted crying to something more calculated.
I've just finished season 2; it's a great show and I've been really impressed with Odenkirk's acting throughout.

It turns out that the GIFs I posted are from the pilot episode of Kings, which is called "Goliath." It's available in a free, ad-supported version on the NBC website:

His eyes are incredibly beautiful -- especially when they start to fill up with tears -- and I think that comes across particularly well in the video. I like the little movements of his lips and chin as well.
I also found this fairly intense sobbing GIF of Sebastian Stan in the TV show Political Animals, but I haven't figured out which episode it's from.
