Ok! Not making a Top Ten just yet because that requires a lot of time and effort, haha, but I'll start working my way through all the books I have a strong recollection of possessing awesome crying scenes.

WARNING: SPOILERS.

The first one's from Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma. A male crying scene (sorry, promise to post some female ones too.) One of my favorite crying scenes of all time. It's about incest, though, so I'm really sorry if that bothers you! You can just pretend the characters are who you like, though.

Here are a couple of my favorite quotes from the scene, all of which are from the perspective of the cryer, Lochie.

"No. I can't take this anymore. I can't, I can't. I'm not even going to get her out of my room before it's too late. My eyes pulsute with a rising ache. If I move, if I speak, if I so much as blink, I'm going to lose this battle."

"I try to dry my eyes on my shirtsleeve, but the tears keep coming and I can't understand why I am so utterly powerless to stop them."

Then, my favorite line of dialogue from the comforter, Maya, "Lochie, calm down. I just want to hold you, that's all. Just let me hold you."

"She is talking to me softly now, almost whispering, one arm wrapped tightly around me, the other stroking the back of my head, rocking me gently back and forth. I cling to her as the sobs rack my body with such force, I think I will never be able to stop."

There's a LOT more great lines in this scene (basically the whole thing tracks how Lochan is falling apart, and so when he finally does it's really gratifying, but I'm not sure what the rules are on the internet for typing up lines from books, so I'll leave it at these. Also, if the subject doesn't bother you, I highly recommend the book because it's a page-turner.

Promise to post others! (I have so many I could probably post one a day and not run out, ever, lol, because I'll keep reading more haha)

Theaters, if it's a sad play.

Parks?

Also, I've wanted to do the Fight Club thing so often it isn't even funny, but I'm way too nervous.

I have so, so many, because I read a lot, like hundreds of books a year, and the crying scenes always catch my attention.

Not sure about finding links on line , but my highest recommendation would probably be South of Broad. It's a great book (though long) and every character has a great crying scene at least once. Some day when I have loads of time maybe I'll make like a "top ten scenes" list with quotes or something.

Er, crying. Kind of personal, I guess, but as someone who has yet to engage in sexual activity and isn't particularly eager to... the crying seems just way lovelier.

I agree with TorNorth, that it wouldn't be the same if I somehow caused it. I think what I'd wish is that every guy I know come to me when they have problems that lead to crying. Yeah. That should suffice.

^ It's definitely possible. Because I've heard plenty of non-fetishists say they think crying is cute/sexy, etc. (I also have some friends who think the exact opposite, but, hey), whereas with my other fetish... no one ever, ever outside of the fetish land would think it's cute (I don't think, anyway). So it feels much, much stranger. And whereas the other fetish I suppose could almost be considered 'gross' to some people, I hardly think most people would find crying "disgusting", maybe just something they're indifferent to outside of them realm of wanting people to be happy.

I just want to say that I've told several friends (albeit, all of them female) some of them more as a generality ("it's so cute when guys cry") and some of them that it was an actual fetish, and not one has reacted as if it were anything out of the normal. I think there's a way to say it, sort of, so it sounds like a thing you'd never in a million years find strange, and why should they? No one's ever felt reluctant to cry in front of me (I don't think...) or anything like that.

Granted, I can't seem to have this kind of bravery with my other fetish - or with anything else about my life, lol - but for some reason this particular one just doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

Ack, I'm famous amongst those I know as the avid-reader-book-snob so I'd get side-eyed quite a lot if I read it, but now I really really really want to. Maybe I'll buy it in secret haha.

^ This is random, but there's that movie The Holiday where Cameron Diaz can't cry so she forces herself to sob, until at the end of the movie she actually cries. With Jude Law. It's a silly movie and the crying isn't, like, spectacular (and it's fictional, so I mean I'm sure what you're saying is true), but I thought I'd point it out.

Tearhunter I'm so sorry you had a hard week   but I'm pretty sure no one would ever think about it, really. And if they did, it'd mean they definitely had no problem with the experience, and probably wouldn't bring it up ever because they wouldn't want to offend you.

Okay, well one I thought of (ahh I have such a bad memory for these things!) is On the Town. If I recall, there was both male and female crying in it (plus the entire theater, including all the guys, were in tears.... minus my friend and I, which was awkward)

I'm about to read a play for one of my classes, so if there's anything noteworthy I'll make a post. Unfortunately, I think I'll have to mostly record ones from shows I see from now on, because my memory honestly sucks (which means, I think, that I've never seen any truly GREAT crying scene other than in Death of a Salesman, because surely it would have stuck with me.) Question - should I bother recording small-time plays that probably won't be put on elsewhere other than in NYC because they're not well known and off-off-off Broadway?
